Welcome to the community-picked winner and runners-up of April 2021’s FP4Party. Nearly 700 individual entries and 900+ photos posted over April 19th – 25th were whittled down to just 28 in the shortlist announcement. Of those, three were selected by you, the film photography community for third, second and first place.
It was a close call, much closer than it’s been for a few years – all three of the submissions you see below were separated by the tiniest of margins. Let’s just say it was a nail-biting finish.
Thanks to everyone who took part. Here’s the countdown.

I asked Joey to tell us a little more about the photograph. Here goes:
As usual, I started the FP4 party out strong, going and shooting half the roll the first day, and then let it languish in my Contax G1. With the shooting deadline coming up, my partner, her dog, and myself ended up meandering around Tempe Town Lake here in Arizona that final evening to finish off the roll.
Our wanderings brought us to one of our favorite little ice-cream parlors, and we decided to stop in to order a few scoops. Fittingly, this final stop coincided with the end of my roll. This picture was taken to both celebrate the FP4 Party and my actually finishing the roll in time! It was the final frame that I took for this year’s party, and I couldn’t have asked for a sweeter
result.Thank you again, there were some absolutely incredible images in this year’s round up.
Camera: Contax G1 with Zeiss Planar 45/2
Film: ILFORD FP4 PLUS
Asking the important questions: Joe’s “few scoops” were two scoops of Madagascar Vanilla with and scoop of Peabody Espresso.
Interested in another FP4 Party this year? The judges and I want to hear from you. We’re tentatively planning a few changes to make the event more inclusive, so please do let us know your thoughts. If you’d like to see the event expand (officially) beyond Twitter, now’s the time to step up with your support. We need help and if you’re willing to lend a hand, we’d love to accept the assistance.
