The Pentacon looks just like a standard 35mm SLR, although it is a little taller, a little wider and a little deeper. It is also heavier although does not feel particularly unwieldy in use.

For new black and white film, say the secret codeword: “Kosmo Foto Agent Shadow”…but is it really a film noir film?
London-based Kosmo Foto recently announced their Kickstarter for a new film stock: Agent Shadow, a 35mm ISO 400 black and white panchromatic film that can be rated to at least EI 3200. The film is penciled in for a September 2021 release and I was lucky enough to be given a couple of rolls to […]
An accidental Rolleiflex TLR: A new experience with the Rolleiflex Automat 6×6 Model RF 111A
I had used film from the late 1950s right up to the digital revolution when I was seduced by what the new cameras could do. As DSLR cameras improved (I now have a Nikon D850) there were few practical reasons for working with the older technology. But what does practicality have to do with anything? […]
Zenza Bronica ETRS: Not exactly the poor man’s Hasselblad
The Bronica has been described as the poor man’s Hasselblad. That is just wrong, as I hope to demonstrate through this article. When I began my journey back to film photography, I looked at Rolleiflex cameras first, but finally settled on the Hasselblad 500C/M — of which I have two now. I recently decided to […]
5 Frames…from 4 cities on Kosmo Foto Mono 100 (EI 100 / 35mm format / Nikon F3/T)
Photography for me is used to capture the things I like and to provide a welcome distraction from the comings and going of modern life.
5 Frames… With Kosmo Foto Mono 100 (EI 100 / 120 format / Mamiya C220)
Over the last year or so I’ve been making the transition back in time to using film rather than my digital’ cameras. In life, I feel I am making a return to a slower and more simple outlook and the return to film for me is part of the process. I tend to use whatever […]
5 Frames… Of the Chaophraya River on Kosmo Foto Mono 100 (EI 100 / 120 format / Voigtländer Perkeo I)
On the same day that EM put my 5 Frames with Kosmo Foto Mono 100 with my Hasselblad 500CM I picked up some negatives from the lab I use in Bangkok and took them home for scanning. The first two rolls were also Kosmo Foto Mono 100: one from my Agfa Record III, and the […]
B&W pinhole photography with the Vermeer 6×12 and 120 format Kosmo Foto Mono 100
It was time to have some fun with Kosmo Foto Mono 100 while tour skiing in the Alps. This time around the Frauenalpe in Austria. The Frauenalpe used to be a ski resort but they removed the equipment. Which makes it so much better to experience nature. Going ski touring or snowshoe walking is really […]
5 Frames… With Kosmo Foto Mono 100 (EI 100 / 120 format / Hasselblad 500CM)
Over the past few months I have experimented with several medium format and 35mm cameras. I have also tried out different films like the new CatLABS X-FILM 80, some Fomapan films and the newly available Kosmo Foto Mono 100 in medium format. I am now refining my camera and film choices. I did run some […]

5 Frames… With KosmoFoto Mono 100 (EI 100 / 35mm format / Leica M4)
I discovered this location – Dakota Crescent – whilst riding to my usual skate spots. It is one of Singapore’s oldest estates built in circa 1958. That is even before the independence of Singapore. The name itself is derived from Douglas DC-3 “Dakota” aircraft. The designs of these flats were close to that of towns […]

New film: announcing medium format Kosmo Foto Mono 100 120 format film
In November 2017, the first batch of 35mm Kosmo Foto Mono 100 made its way from the Czech Republic to Kosmo Foto HQ in south east London.
It was the culmination of nearly 18 months of planning;
5 Frames… With Kosmo Foto Mono (EI 100 / 35mm / Leica M6)
You’ll no doubt know two things about Kosmo Mono film; first is the packaging and branding are great. Inspired by the artwork of Soviet era propaganda, it features blocky, simple designs of space rockets and jet planes.
My Return to film: Nick Orloff
As a teenager (I’m 55 now) I was the kid that was always carrying a camera – a Pentax K1000 that my grandfather gave me – and at the time I thought that’s where my career would be.
Creating Kosmo Foto Mono 100
Kosmo Foto started life back in 2012 as Zorki Photo through my love of film photography. Some people collect Contaxes and Leicas; I collected Zenits and Zorkis.
