Here’s Antonio to tell us a little about his winning shot:
The shot was taken with an old Nikon F Photomic (with broken meter) and a Nikkor 50mm F1.4 pre-AIS lens. The film is Ilford Pan F+ 50 shot and dev’d stock with HC-110 (dil E). The photo was taken on a very sunny Sunday morning at the port of Brindisi (in southern Italy, 30 mins away from my hometown).
My wife Amy and I went for a walk with Rocco the Poodle instead of going to the beach like 99% of the Italians. I was taking pictures of the port and she was trying to photograph the dog on the Scalinata Virgiliana. I thought the scene was funny, I called her so she could turn and I shot. Because of the strong sun I think my camera was already set to 1/125 F8.
I really enjoyed using Ilford PanF. I had a roll sitting in the refrigerator for a while, but without Summer Film Party I wouldn’t have used it. Then after the first roll, I bought a few others because I loved the look (kind of vintage in combination with the old Nikkor lens) and the tones.
Congratulations to John, Adib and Antonio. In fact, congratulations to everyone who entered! The Shortlisting June and July’s events wasn’t the easiest job in the world and August is looking like the toughest of the three. More to come on that front early next week.
Thanks again and see you all soon,
