We are brothers. Twins actually! Boy and Girl. We have a passion for analog photography and we love to experience film.

At the end of last year, we had a chance to go to Madrid for one week. The last week of 2017. Out of film stock we managed to get some to take with us on the trip. We decided to use black and white film and we needed one with a solid performance, especially in situations of huge bright light/deep shadows differences.

We didn’t know what to expect about the weather. Unlike Lisbon, Madrid is a less luminous city but has a very rich and diverse architecture. Most of the streets are always crowded, ideal for street photography. There are also numerous places where you can try the most varied tapas and beers.

Mistakenly, we ordered the Kodak TRI-X 400. As we never tried it, things could go wrong easily. We were concerned that the results might not be as good as expected… However, we took even more risks and pushed this film to 800 ISO, making it more versatile for both day and night environment.

It exceeded our expectations in terms of performance in the shadows (very solid) and a pretty interesting detail. We used a Nikon FM2 with a 50mm f/1.8.

Definitely, we are a dramatic dark/deep B&W lovers so, if you are into a darker B&W tones, especially on shadows and middle tones this is a film for you. Kodak Tri-X 400 became one of our favorite B&W films.

Hope you enjoy.
