Update 09 – 2018-06-21: 334 labs / 56 countries
58 labs added, 32 updated and five new countries on the map. Special thanks to Tibo Alberny and John Whitmore for their help cleaning up all the submissions. More updates to come very soon!
With the help of some lovely folks from all over the internet, as well as a few of my own notes (kept on napkins and cigarette packets over the years), I present to you an in-exhaustive map of places you can get your film developed and scanned – worldwide.
Each of the labs you’ll see on the map below are real, active and have been used by yours truly, or members of the film photography community.
This is a living, breathing map and will be constantly updated with m
re detail – better information on services, film formats developed, scanning options, public darkroom facilities, wet printing (color and black and white) – everything we can get our hands on. Scroll to the bottom of this page to submit your own updates.
We started off with ~60 labs in 15 countries in September 2016 and at the time of the last update on June 21st 2018, now list 334 labs in 58 countries. More updates will be coming very soon as I clear out a bit of a backlog. Please contribute labs not yet covered, as well as details not yet currently included for existing listings.
In addition, if there’s some detail that you feel should be added to all of the listings (turnaround times?), please let me know either in the comments below.
If you’re having difficulty loading the map below, you can also view it directly on Google Maps here. You can also add this map as an overlay in your iOS or Android Google Maps app.
Can’t seem to search? No problem: click on the top right icon and you’ll be able to view the map in full screen and search away to your heart’s content.
Has someone been missed? Details incorrect? Want to contribute? Use the form below or this link to make a new submission, or to update an existing entry.

So this is not maintained anymore? You need help with this?
How do you add labs to this maps?
@fotosintesislab check this out!
There are two in Egypt Cairo The Darkroom Cairo and CIC – Contemporary Image Collective
I just added more:
1. Graingrinlab in Bekasi, West Java (Jawa Barat)
2. LOMOLAB – Praga/Trayan Photo Jatiwaringin – in Jatiwaringin, Jakarta Timur, Jakarta
3. Metro Foto in Surabaya, East Java (Jawa Timur)
They are active film labs.
Will add more as I discover other new and surviving old film labs. Film is indeed still alive here.
I just added one more film lab namely, “Rawa Lab” in Jakarta, Indonesia. One of the few that can process 4×5 film. Still operating. Kindly add!
I’ve recently added a private film lab in Bekasi, West Java – Indonesia, namely hicreativefive. they’re on hiatus today but i believe they’ll start again soon. can scan and process 135 and 120, but can’t print. Will look for other old film lab that might survive in Jakarta.
Thanks a lot for that map.

Unfortunately Alpine Film Lab in Provo, UT has closed. But Photo Collective Studios has a public darkroom at 850 E. South Temple, Salt Lake City

For Germany, I have a second one in Stuttgart:

I don’t know about the capital of Croatia (Zagreb) except that there are a quite a few photolabs there, but I can confirm that there are two labs in Osijek that are still developing film.
FOTOREKLAM d.o.o.
Kapucinska 39
Osijek, Croatia
They’re doing C-41 development. No cross-processing. Developing a roll costs 8 kunas per roll (1.08 Euros), and scanning costs 10 kunas per roll (1.5 Euros). The format is JPG, and the resolution is always 2400×1600, since it’s all done on an Agfa machine. Despite the JPG format and the resolution, the scans are detailed and good enough for web/insta services. They’re allegedly also developing b/w film, but unlike color ones which are done in 40-ish minutes, you’ll wait quite a bit for those.
Digital Foto Studio C
Županijska ul. 13
Osijek, Croatia
Also C-41 development, the same affordable prices as the studio above, but their scans come in a much higher resolution (3637×2433). I suspect that these guys are not using a drum scan since the scans lack fine detail – it’s probably interpolation, although good enough for most uses. Also, you’ll have to wait for a couple of hours for them to develop + scan your films.
Hope this helps.
p.s. Just saw the form, added them on the map!

In Ulaanbaatar there’s a shop called “PhotoMan” that does C41 and scanning. Occasionally have a small stock of 35mm film for sale. It’s a blue shop west of the State Department store on the right side of the street. Unfortunately, they don’t have a website or FB. It’s quite cheap but the services aren’t anything special. Here’s a photo of the place to make it easy to find! http://imgur.com/a/rhP4F
Iain, are you able to get me an address? I should be able to add it then!

In Poznań Poland there are 3 more great photolabs other than fotoma.
First one is on Cyryla Ratajskiego square, there you can also buy papers, and chemicals for your darkroom.
Another one is Foto Viva in a shopping mall (Kupiec Poznański), this is the last place in Poznań where they develop your film in less than an hour.
The last one is called Fotogajek and is on Kramarska Street (really close to the old market square – so it is the best for tourists shooting film) they also have lots of films for sale.
In Poznań there are some smaller photolabs as well – mostly making prints and photos for IDs but if you bring film to them they’ll probably develop it in a week.
I’m having some difficulty getting the minimum information I need for the listings. Are you able to help fill in the blanks?
As promised, here in Copenhagen we have the full service Laboratoriet i Nannasgade (labcph.dk) and my own rental & b&w analog darkroom, CPH Silver Lab (silverlab.net)

Thanks! I’ve added them in. Are you able to help out with the missing info on the listing?
They’re currently inactive over social media, and I’m not sure if they sell film online. They do have a walk-in shop, and might sell film there.
Also, my hires scans were from a Noritsu machine so far. They could be using fuji previously or just for standard scans
I’m living in San Diego, and went to Nelson Photo Supplies a couple times. They sell, dev+scan film in their shop and certainly isn’t a public darkroom. Unfortunately I forgot their prices. Here’s their fb page https://www.facebook.com/NelsonPhotoSupplies/
Also, another store for San Diego is George’s Camera. They offer c41 dev+scan ($4 for 35mm c41 dev, +$9 for scan or +$15 for hires) in their North Park main store, but send push/pull or B&W film offsite to Swan Labs and $4 extra for this option.
Thanks very much. Nelson was already in there but I’ve added some more info. Both branches of George’s have been added, too.
In Anchorage, Alaska – Keller’s Custom Photolab. http://kellersphotolab.com/ 1411 W 33rd Ave.

Nice map! I’d like to add 2 photo labs in Quebec; Borealis (http://www2.borealislab.qc.ca/borealis/en-home) who I think still develop E6 film, and Lozeau (https://www.lozeau.com/en-CA/company/contact/) who definitely still develop 110 film. Both in Montreal, and both good labs.
Thanks for sharing, Mike. They’ve both been added and if you can supply any of the missing info on each listing, it’d be a great help. Cheers.
I have used both for developing my film…
Pro Photo Connection in Irvine, California – http://www.prophotoconnection.com/ (C41, E6 & BW)
Dexter’s Camera in Ventura, California – http://www.dexterscamera.com/ (C41)
Thanks Edward, added them both. Can you help provide the missing information in the listings?
Great idea! I have a couple to add that I found while traveling in S. America:
Argentina:
Buenos Aires Color
Piedras 980 (C1070AAT)
Ciudad Autónoma.
Buenos Aires, Argentina.
From what I remember, they process C41, E6, and black and white and seem to have quite a few lab services. They even rushed my development overnight for no extra charge because I had a flight back home the next day.
Chile:
Photolab
Calle Merced 832,
Santiago, Región Metropolitana,
Chile
So this place is supposedly good, and supposedly develops all types of film, offers push and pull processing, and whatever else you need. I have no firsthand experience however, because I mistakenly went into the shop with the big “FUJIFILM” awning two doors down. Don’t do that. The Fujifilm place is a standard 1 hour photo, which is convenient, but asking them to push my Cinestill in my broken Spanish did not ultimately get me the results I wanted.
Others I didn’t try, but found in searching for film labs:
Migo
Las Azucenas 2997,
Providencia. Santiago de Chile
JPF Laboratorio Fotográfico
Reyes Lavalle 3320, Las Condes
Santiago 7550121
Other useful things I learned traveling with film in South America: Developing = Revelado. Push = Forzar, Forzado. One stop = Un punto. Rolls of film = rollos.
One hour photos are common and heavily used in the cities, but quality in my experience is mediocre.
Very useful Mike, thank you.
in adition, JPF lab is the only place that develops E6 in Chile
Please include http://www.kontrastlab.de for Cologne, Germany. 30 years of analog film development and printing. Still going strong.
Added. Please review the listing and provide any missing data, thanks!
