The Eastman Kodak Company was founded by George Eastman and Henry A. Strong on May 23, 1892. The company held a dominant position in photographic film for most of the 20th century. In January 2012, Kodak filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, officially emerging from this protected status on September 3, 2013.
