Photography is my hobby. It lets me see the world differently, to notice small miracles in dull environment, to detach from daily life, to recreate inner balance and to remain constantly positive. To sum up photography is a drug for me, and as I mostly shoot film – this drug costs money. Ha ha.
While I don't consider myself "big artist” in terms of my shooting results, I try to be active in photography world in order to:
-promote photography as an instrument that enriches personal view to the world - I mean that when you start to shoot you start not to look, but to SEE. World becomes more beautiful place to live.
- promote film photography and to encourage new users to enter it. I have twofold reasons for it: a) it beautiful and people should try it b) as a means of “self defence” - more users means longer life of film and film cameras in the market :)

Norita 66 system review: Pleasure and pain from my need for speed

Avatar - Aivaras Sidlaby Aivaras SidlaJanuary 24, 2021July 31, 2021

Hello. My name is Aivaras and I am a bokeh junkie. I got into film photography mostly because of my ability to play with limited depth of field and I still can’t let it go. However, there are minor signs of remission; I already managed to understand that in the 35mm film world at least, […]

5 Frames… Of my first time trying Kodak EKTACHROME E100 on a Yashica Mat-124G

Avatar - Aivaras Sidlaby Aivaras SidlaOctober 6, 2020July 31, 2021

From the start of my “film shooters career” I was shooting either negative color film or BW negative film. My favorite emulsions were and still are Kodak Portra 400 for color and Kodak Tri-X 400 for BW shots. It’s staple, one of the most forgiving and beautiful films for my taste. Slide film on the […]

5 frames… of people with FujiFilm Velvia 50 and Rolleiflex 2.8GX

Avatar - Aivaras Sidlaby Aivaras SidlaSeptember 29, 2020July 31, 2021

I’m getting back to my “summer experiment” -– testing medium format slide film. This time I’d like to share results from FujiFilm Velvia 50. Why do I call it “testing”? Because in my 9 years experience of shooting film, I tried slide film for the first time only this spring.  Slide film is still a novelty […]

5 Frames… Of Cats that will (apparently) save film forever (4 cameras, 4 films)

Avatar - Aivaras Sidlaby Aivaras SidlaSeptember 14, 2020July 31, 2021

I have some sort of revelation and I want (no, I HAVE) to share it. The message is simple – cats will save film. For like forever.  There is no point in arguing with it. I invite You not to go arrogant way by questioning this truth, instead I’d suggest to accept it fully without […]

Essay: It’s all been done before so why bother taking photographs?

Avatar - Aivaras Sidlaby Aivaras SidlaApril 20, 2020July 31, 2021

I’m constantly getting back to this thought and feel it’s about time to share something with you that comes very close to my inner monologue. You have been warned. I highly doubt that we all have the same motivations to take photographs but it is interesting to explore my own situation and hear your experience, […]

Reviewing the Rolleiflex 2.8GX Expression 75 years edition (it’s gold!)

Avatar - Aivaras Sidlaby Aivaras SidlaAugust 16, 2019September 4, 2021

Let’s start with the elephant in the room – this camera comes with some serious bling. It is in fact, a special gold-dipped version officially called the “Rolleiflex 2.8GX Expression 75 years edition”.

Avatar - Aivaras Sidlaby Aivaras SidlaMay 14, 2018July 31, 2021

When I started my path of analog photography somewhere in 2012, my first film stocks were widely available Fujifilm consumer grade films – mostly Fujifilm Superia 200 and Fujicolor C200.
