It’s back! This quirky — even for Lomography — film, which turns humanity into honorary members of the Blue Man Group is back in 35mm, 110 and 120 formats. According to Lomography, the film is available in limited quantities, and if you order now, you’ll get a 15% discount, with 120 rolls at an equivalent of ~US$10, 35mm 36 exposure rolls at ~US$11 each and 110 format 24 exposure rolls at ~US$7.50 each.
A couple of examples follow:
All this comes at a small price: new LomoChrome Turquoise XR 100-400 can be purchased in 5-10 rolls packs in 120, 35mm or 110 format, as a 6-roll 35mm + 120 bundle containing 3 rolls of each format, or a 9-roll 35mm + 120 + 110 bundle, also containing 3 rolls of each format.
Objectively speaking, this collective has done more for film photography in the last ten years than Kodak, Fuji, Hasselblad, Leica, Rollei, Nikon and Canon combined.
The original LomoChrome Turquoise XR 100-400 was one of the first films I reviewed here on EMULSIVE, just 2 weeks after I launched the website back in June 2015. You might remember the quote above from that very article. The review (linked below) was as much a test of the film’s properties under coloured filters and various speeds as it was a bit of a soapbox for me to talk about about the crap-flinging that Lomography has had to deal with over the years as a supposed “hipster brand”.
That is sadly still a reality, normally coming from the same types of film photographers who poo-poo chromogenic black and white film, photography of waterfalls and cross-processing. Still, it means that it leaves more fun for the rest of us!
The new film appears to be pretty close to the original — at least, when comparing the samples on their website to those I shot for my 2015 EI 100, 200 and 400 exposure/filter review. Check them out:
Honestly, I love the look and can’t wait to try it out for real next summer. It’s a long wait but if the original version is anything to go by, very, very worth the wait.
As noted above, new LomoChrome Turquoise XR 100-400 can be purchased in 5-10 rolls packs in 120, 35mm or 110 format, as a 6-roll 35mm + 120 bundle containing 3 rolls of each format, or a 9-roll 35mm + 120 + 110 bundle, also containing 3 rolls of each format.
Over to you. Will you be trying it out by ordering it now, or waiting for it to hit the shelves next year?

I just ordered. I missed out on this one the first time around so I’m excited to give it a go.
I am so freaking happy about this! Not the biggest fan of purple, but turquoise was one of the greatest films I ever shot with for color distortion. I ordered 2 dozen rolls immediately to stock up. I have been trying to decide if I want to go back and preorder more.
SUPER excited about this. I’ve long been a fan of the Lomo Purple and missed out on the Turquoise the first go-round. I’ve always wanted to give it a go…already got my order in. 🙂
