Welcome to the best of #FP4Party December 2016!

This (near) penultimate update for #FP4Party 2016 brings with it a slight melancholy. All good things must some to en end, albeit temporarily in this case. When the idea for FP4P was hatched towards the end of 2016, it was envisaged as a celebration of all things Ilford FP4+ and celebrate we did.

The past four months have been astounding to say the least. We’ve seen new film photographers try FP4+ for the first time and old hands — who moved onto other stocks — pick up FP4+ for the first time in years and discover a new love for the film. More so, we’ve seen #FP4Party demonstrate the power of focus and what happens when you really get to know a particular film stock.

The work shared by you all using the #FP4Party hashtag has consistently grown in both size and more importantly, quality. The progression of work posted each month is  something that was wholly unexpected when we got together and hatched the idea for the first party.

I know that I’m not the only one left gobsmacked during each #PostWeek.

What next?

First and foremost, the main purpose of this article is to showcase the “Best of” from December 2016 and to gather your votes. We also want to let you officially know that #FP4Party will be taking a break for a few months.

Sad as it is, it will be back – you can count on that. There will be another film taking FP4’s place very soon, so please stay tuned for updates over the coming couple of weeks.

Let’s just say that you’ll have a bit more flexibility for the next event.

Looking back

Talk of what’s to come aside, this article is all about celebrating what was #FP4Party December 2016 and crowning the community’s final winner of the 2016 season. As with FP4 Party September, October and November 2016, we need your help making the selection for your favorite photograph for the month.

We had 320 entries for December 2016’s post week – a record. As with November’s #FP4Party, judging was incredibly tough, especially so considering that the submissions didn’t let up even though December’s party fell over Christmas.

Taking a slight deviation from the previous parties, we’ve shortlisted four entries for each day of the final post week for 2016.

Day one – 19 December 2016
