I met up with my friend Erik in late November 2019 near the Christmas market in Strasbourg. However, the Christmas market was not our main destination, no, it was the city of Strasbourg itself. Strasbourg is a beautiful city that has a lot to offer besides its world-famous cathedral. I wanted to and did photograph […]

I'm a hobby photographer who has been pursuing this for a long time. I really started in the mid-1980s, when I got my first and especially my second SLR camera, a Minolta X-300. It still serves me faithfully today.
But then it went blow by blow, I discovered the black and white photography, which also resulted in the soon establishment of a darkroom.
Until 1995 I led the hobby, which I then gave up for other reasons.
In 2009 came the first DSLR, but it was more lying around.
2015 then the switch to mirrorless with use of old lenses.
And in 2018, a chance glance through the X-300 combined with that wonderful shutter sound brought me back to analog.
I do this hobby just for fun and I have plenty of it.
My motto is: wisiwyg, what I see is what you get.
5 Orthochromatic Frames… Of Washi A (35mm format / El 50 / Minolta SR-T 303b + MD F1.7/50mm)
What I hesitated for a long time. No, I don’t need this camera. Why should I? I have a Minolta X-300 and I’m very happy with it, so why should I get an SR-T 101 or 303? Damn, it’s fully mechanical and except for a light meter, doesn’t need any power. All right, in no […]
5 Frames… In the fog with an Agfa Optima I and NoColorStudio No. 10 film (35mm Format / EI 100 / Agfa Color-Agnar f/2.8/45mm)
A few months ago there was a presentation of various black and white films on emulsive.org. It made me curious. Without further ado, I ordered the High ISO Set with films No. 99 and No. 10 from NoColorStudio in Lithuania. No. 99 has ISO 990 and No. has ISO 100. ISO 100 is High ISO? […]
5 Frames… Of Fuhr’s Huette: a hut built under a fallen rock on ILFORD HP5 PLUS (EI 400 / 120 Format / Rolleiflex SL66)
Shortly before Christmas 2020 my friend Erik visited me and we went on a photo trip to Fuhr’s Huette in Idar-Oberstein, a small hut built under a massive fallen rock in 1702. I chose the Rolleiflex SL66 with the Zeiss Distagon 4/50 because of the narrowness at this place. And for film, the well-known ILFORD […]
5 Frames… From my first roll of Washi S (35mm Format / EI 50 / Minolta 9000AF + Sigma 24mm f/2.8)
On a sunny Saturday at the end of March 2020, I had the idea to try out Film Washi S, an ISO 50 sound recording film in the field. I love sunny Saturday mornings. A few days before, I had already made some shots in the house in my Minolta 9000AF, mounted with the Sigma […]
5 Frames… Field testing an Agfa Clack 6×9 on ILFORD Delta 100 Professional
I had hesitated for a long time, but at the beginning of April, the time had come. I was again in possession of the camera that was once my first. An Agfa Clack, 6×9. Back then, around 1975, my brother-in-law gave it to me. I had exposed maybe one film at that time, because my […]
5 Frames… Of night and day at EI 6400 with Kodak T-Max P 3200 and an Edixa-MAT Reflex (35mm format / EI 6400 / Pancolar 50mm f/1.8 and Tessar 50mm f/2.8, 50mm)
During a visit in November 2020, my friend Erik gave me a camera on unlimited loan: an Edixa-MAT Reflex, Model C, built around 1960. At the time of…
5 Frames… Of a triple waterfall in Luxembourg on ILFORD HP5 PLUS (120 Format / EI 400 / Agfa Billy I 6,3)
Over the last few months, I have fallen in love with old medium format cameras, so I took three old medium format cameras with me for this trip. Among them was a 6x9cm Agfa Billy I 6.3 with an Agnar f/6.3 / 105mm, model 1950. I loaded the Billy with an ILFORD HP5 PLUS. The […]
5 Frames… Shooting Blues Night 1993 with Stan Webb and Chicken Shack on Kodak T-MAX 3200 (35mm Format / EI 3200 / Minolta X-300 + Tokina SD 70-210mm f/4-5.6)
In autumn 1993 it was time again. The annual Blues Night in the neighboring town of Idar-Oberstein was coming up. This time I also wanted to take pictures there. My first time in a dark hall with a few spotlights on stage. What do I need? Flash was already categorically ruled out for me. I […]
5 Frames. Cumulus afternoon with a red filter on Rollei Superpan 200 (EI 200 / 120 format / Rolleiflex T)
Once again it was time for a spontaneous photo tour with a fixed theme. Normally I only shoot what comes to my nose. I am always very free. But that was a wonderful day, Saturday 30 May 2020. The sun was shining and cumulus clouds were gathering in the sky. The ideal weather for cloud […]
5 Frames… With Film Washi F (EI 100 / 35mm format / Rollei 35TE)
First of all, I’m not a great master photographer, it’s just a lot of fun and has been for over 30 years, with a break of several years and a digital phase in between. My motto is WISIWYG, What I See Is What You Get. On a beautiful sunny morning in late November 2019, I […]
