Author Archives: Timothy Gilbert

Timothy Gilbert processed his first roll of film in the eighth grade and was later a photographer for his high school yearbook and newspaper. His career in photography was short-circuited by his equally strong interest in computers and engineering.
He holds a MS degree in engineering; served four years in the USAF and has worked in numerous engineering roles for fortune 500 companies. Tired of the big corporate grind, he founded JEM Innovation sixteen years ago to focus on embedded processing and product development.

It has taken several years and a lot of experimentation, (not to mention a lot of wasted film), but we finally have the answer for processing large, large format without a darkroom.

5 Frames… With Fomapan 400 Action (EI 400 / 4×5 format / Graflex Speed Graphic and Kodak Aero Ektar 178mm f/2.5)

I don’t remember exactly when or where I first learned about the Kodak Aero Ektar lens, but I immediately knew that I had to have one! Mine is mounted an Army Air Corps Speed Graphic.

Featured project: creating the SP-445 film processing system

Making a short story long. After all, that’s what I do…

Several years ago, my oldest daughter expressed curiosity about old-fashioned film. I dug out my Olympus OM-1 and we shot a few rolls.
