“That man is richest whose pleasures are cheapest.” ~ Henry David Thoreau

Making a living as a photographer requires me to have professional digital equipment. Still, everyone around me knows about my passion for film. I didn’t expect, as I drove with my friend to Aunt Bruna’s home, that I was going to leave her house with such a photographic device to add to my humble assortment of film-cameras: the Fuji Discovery 90 35mm compact camera.

This Fuji’s features include a bright extra-large viewfinder, a self-timer with a 10-second delay, a motorized rewind, and a built-in lens cover.

I was able to experience the surprising quality of the images in this camera, which has no controls or adjustments; when I first used it with Fujifilm C200.

Friendly in nature, from loading the film (the camera does it automatically) to only being able to compose and shoot; one can go back to the basic ”point and shoot” approach.

On a second round and knowing the camera a little more I used black and white Kentmere 400.

The experience with the camera is very simple. It is so simple that your brain does not understand it at first. Just as I didn’t understand what my Aunt meant by “I have a camera for you” – her having it from back to the eighties, I thought it wouldn’t work. “Make sure He doesn’t leave it!”, Aunt Bruna told my friend. The Fujifilm Discovery 90 has been able to make me experience excitement and simplicity.

Thanks for letting me share these thoughts and pictures with you.
