The moment I received my Silberra film, I immediately popped the PAN100 in my Canon FTb and paired it with a 58mm f/1.2 lens. As most of the sample shots I’d seen were of outdoor environments, I decided to bring out the tripod and shoot mostly in dim scenarios. I also took into consideration that the PAN100 has an “emulsion that makes the film ideal to use at dusk/dawn, in winter and at complicated lighting ambience.”

The roll was shot at box speed, developed in XTOL (1+0) for 8mins at 20 degrees. The negatives were scanned using a Noritsu.

Call me crazy… but the output reminds me of the Efke R100 – Almost invisible grain, bright highlights, beautiful hues of grays, medium contrast, and elegant sharpness. I apologize if I cannot give a more intelligent assessment as I am writing this the very second I received my scans from the lab. I really wanted to put this out before the Indiegogo campaign closes because I wanted to show you how beautiful this film is.

My lab team was very impressed with how the negatives scan and were at first a little worried at how thin the negatives feels. Click on the images below to see them in fullscreen.

Realistically of course, Silberra’s Indiegogo goals will probably not be met, but I hardly see that as discouraging. With so many fantastic sample photos out there, it’s only a matter of brand and product exposure.

At the time of writing there are only 4 days left in the campaign, I really do hope we all do our best in supporting them!
