Welcome one and all!
That’s month three of this EMULSIVE experiment over and done with. How did it go for you?
As regular readers will be aware, we began trialling twice-weekly interview spots this month and the response has been nothing short of amazing. Time is always short but it’s been incredibly rewarding to see so many talented people showcase their thoughts and images.
It’s easy to take credit when you feature the words and pictures of truly interesting people and to us, each one of the eight people we featured last month are stand-up straight legends – although none of them would ever let you say that to their face without flushing just a little.
Here’s who we featured in August:

If you’ve missed out on any of these, now’s the time to take a quick look.
As with most film photographers, most of these folks are not limited to a single camera but the notes above is by no means an exhaustive list of what they sure. If you’re curious, drop them a line and ask, they won’t bite (apart from Ray, whom you may need to tempt with some 8×10 sheet film).
As a photographer, it’s a rather humbling experience to have had the opportunity to share this handful of people with you over the past two months. It’s also rather difficult not to use the images they’ve been kind enough to share as a mirror for my own attempts at capturing light. Talk about a humbling experience.
There are plenty more interviews coming this month, the first of which was published yesterday. Watch this space!

Needless Christmas promotion

Yes, we all know that Christmas is coming up fast and regardless if if you celebrate the holiday from a religious, social, or commercial standpoint, we’d like to invite you to join in some gift-giving fun with the EMULSIVE 2015 Secret Santa. Details are scarce at the moment but we’ll be ready to share more with you all sometime over the next couple of weeks.
You can pre-register your interest by sending us an email to with the subject “I’m in”. We’ve got some exciting news to share with you once we’ve been given the green light but don’t let that stop you from finding out more here: EMULSIVE Secret Santa – Ho-ho-hoping you’ll join in.

Up next

September is looking packed already. We’ll be carrying on with the twice weekly interviews and with any luck, you’ll start seeing the fruits of our #filmswap projects, too. First up will be a quick review of Efke’s 25B black and white film, which came to us all the way from Sweden via @jonasx70. We’ll have another motion picture stock review, as well as covering a film you may have heard about (good and bad) but probably not yet used – Shanghai GP3 100.

Top reads

Our three most popular pieces this month were (unsuprisingly) mostly interviews. Antonio Biagiotti led the pack, with Chuck Baker coming in a very close second, just edging out the ephemeral Craig Pindell and my very own thougths on why my street photography is a stinking pile of you-know-what.

Reviews and articles
With everything going on, you might have missed our Kodak VISION3 250D motion picture film review, as well as part 4 in our photographer’s daypack series. We’re hoping to have much more for your on the review front this coming month!

EMULSIVE daily photo
We’ve archived the 60 or so daily photos from this month right here and as ever, you can request high resolution versions of these images in the comments, or by getting in touch.
Thanks for making month three a wonderful experience, folks.
Yours,
EMULSIVE
