Review: Comparing FF No.1 and Cinestill Df96 monobath developers

Following up from Stephen Schaub’s excellent mixed-review of Cinestill’s Df96 review last month, I put together my own little review, comparing it to Famous format’s No.1 monobath developer. This test pits both monobath developers against each other, using large format sheet film shot at the same time, with the same exposure on the same camera and lenses.

The game changing Intrepid 4×5 Enlarger: darkroom printing for all

It’s a fun look at all the variations we’ve seen over the past 70+ years and proof that slide film is most definitely not a flash in the pan.

How-to: Shoot a wedding on film… dos, don’ts and the beauty of film

Ted Smith asked me if I’d be interested in featuring photos from a wedding he’d captur4d on film earlier this year. The answer was an emphatic “yes”. That said (and as ever), I wanted more. I asked Ted if he was able to provide a few hints and tips for others reading the article and the result is “the article I wish I’d read two months before I shot the wedding”. Enjoy!

Film review: Kodak EKTACHROME E100 – shot at EI 100, 200, 400 + 800 first impressions

Closing out the month’s top ten is my first impressions review of new Kodak EKTACHROME E100. I decided to take the film out and give it a bit of a push – comparing the film scene-for-scene in pairs of exposures at EI 100 (box speed) vs EI 200 and EI 400 vs EI 800.The end result is well, interesting and well worth your time.
