5 Frames… With Polaroid Originals SX-70 B&W (EI 160 / SX-70 format / Mint SLR 670m) – by Martin Banas

I started this project a couple of months ago to document my wife’s passion for flowers and plants. Our small flat is just full of them. They are of different shapes and sizes. Some are very odd, some are in very odd pots, but all of them are beautiful.

For the project I have chosen Polaroid Originals SX-70 B&W film, mainly because I didn’t want to be disturbed by color. All of the photos has been taken by Mint SLR 670m, a very amazing camera which allowed me to nail the exposure in every single shot. In some of these photos I used continuous light sources to help me with contrast, and I don’t think I would get the same results using automatic metering of the camera. All of the pictures has been taken in our apartment, mostly against white background (usually wall).

We are going to move into an even smaller flat in the near future, so this document now got additional meaning to us, because some of the plants will have to go to some new home soon.

I started to become interested in photography and soon joined the photography school in the town I live in. Several months after that I bought my first real analog camera, and this started the beautiful journey discovering the potential of the analog media. I shoot mostly black and white and currently more on the instant media such as Polaroid Originals film. When I have time I like to spend it in my darkroom-bathroom.
