5 Frames… With ILFORD FP4 PLUS (EI 125 / 35mm format / Minolta X-300) – by Androstreet

I’ve always wanted to try black & white film. So these shots come from my very first B&W film. I had actually no idea about which film should I use. After checking some sample on the internet, I’ve found that the Kodak Tri-X 400 and the Agfa APX 100 were perfect. I literally love the contrast and the shadows on these ones.

Regrettably, I could found any of them near my city. I actually never found a lot of film in my area. The only film I got was an ILFORD FP4 PLUS, at a local and little camera shop.

Anyway, I decided to go in town, try out this film. It seemed that an event was actually in progress. People were parading in small groups. Men were dressed in animal skins and shotguns. They covered their faces with artisanal natural paint made of earth. Women, meanwhile, wore pretty white dresses. Shortly after, I learned that it was a traditional Sardinian parade, where each tribe came to represent his village.

I think this kind of event is great when you want to take pictures of people. They are happy to parade and pose without problem in front of the objective. It’s just perfect!

For a small number of euros, I also tried a new lab called “GMK Lab”. Under one week, I got my shots back in damned good quality. That was a beautiful and unexpected afternoon with an unknown B&W film. Pictures speak for themselves. I definitely love ILFORD now and will try out others from their range
