My first film camera was the Nikon FE, I bought it off Kijiji (the Canadian version of Craigslist) with two lenses, flash and a funky vintage bag for $75. As I was leaving she asked me “why on earth do you want that old junk?”. I remember telling her “I want to try shooting film.” But in my mind I was thinking “Junk? This is a treasure!”

The trusty FE has bumped along many dirt roads, sat on the dash and I will cherish it for a very long time. I live in rural Alberta, Canada so there are a lot of dirt roads to bump along. I also like to try new things… so when Lomography’s LomoChrome Purple came to my attention I snagged two rolls. The first roll I didn’t like… it was bland looking and only a bit purple.

Thinking it should be more… well purple! I dug around and found an old cheap blue filter and a cheap star filter. Let’s say this is more what I had envisioned and I like it!

All were shot with a standard 50mm F/2 Nikkor AI-S lens. They were taken over the span of a week with different light, from bright sunny days to overcast cloudy and since the ISO is variable I did change it around a little during the roll. The lower ISO of 100 produced more purple and the higher ISO of 400 more blue.
