Kodak E100VS is a medium speed color reversal film (slide film), produced in 35mm and medium format.  The film was retired by Kodak in 2010 but is still available “fresh” on the after market. Late production rolls of this film expired in June 2014 but as long as it has been stored appropriately, this film will still shoot like fresh stock – don’t be put off!

What’s it like (the quick version)?

Fine grain, excellent sharpness, rich, vivid, saturated colors…Kodak E100VS had it all and it’s a damned shame that Kodak discontinued it. Don’t be totally disheartened, though.  As noted, you can still find new, “fresh” stock which, as long as it’s been suitably stored, will give you frame after frame of smiles (in fact, I’m still shooting 10 year expired Kodak E100G and E200G with great results.)

My own experience with E100VS tells me that the film is a great performer. It covers bright and even harsh sunlight with ease. It produces deep, rich shadow detail and whilst not as super fine as Velvia 100, EV100S has a lovely, smooth grain structure that’s good for high resolution digital work and large format printing.
