It’s all about Community.

As photographers, we discuss, debate and evangelize our passion for the medium of photographic film, as well as the hardware and techniques wrapped around it. We reach out to and engage with manufacturers, film labs and a multitude of other organisations that make up the industry side of the community and we wholeheartedly appreciate it when they reach back.

It’s a big part of why I love being part of this community.

You can see great examples of industry-consumer engagement every day but I believe there’s room for more and this is where you come in.

We’re starting a series of Community Interviews, where you (yes, you) get to pose your questions to manufacturers, vendors, tinkerers and service industry folk. They will be true community-led Q&A sessions, and are your opportunity to ask each interviewee about their past, present,or future.

If you want to make a plea for better distribution of a particular line of film in your part of the world, get eyes on product development, or find out about manufacturing processes, this is your chance.

How to get involved

There are three ways to get involved:

First, keep an eye out over the coming days for details of our first interview and how you can submit your questions for consideration. Each interview will be limited to approximately ten community-submitted questions and a small panel will be deciding which ones make the cut.

The second is by telling us who you’d like to see under the community spotlight. They don’t have to be a big multinational, or a long-established brand. If they’re supporting the film photography industry and make an interesting subject, we’re all ears.

Third, if you are involved in the film photography industry, or service sector, are a gallery, publish a periodical, or sell related products, please get in touch using the contact form and we’ll figure out how to get you involved.

More info to follow but in the meantime, I’m looking forward to seeing where this goes!
